Joseph E. Antus, Sr., 82, of Niles, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Ind., following an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 25, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio to Anna M. Kasten.

Joseph was veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the United States Army. He worked for National Standard Company in Niles. He was a member of Saint Mark Church in Niles and was active in the council at West Woods of Niles.

He is survived by his children, Joseph E. Antus, Jr., of Plymouth, Ind.; Robert (Barbara) Antus of South Bend, Ind.; Rolanda Antus of Edwardsburg; Jeannine Antus of New York, New York; and Patrick (Lisa) Antus of Fort Stewart, Ga. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and Thelma Antus of

Edwardsburg. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Johnathan Fitzpatrick Antus.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph E. Antus, Sr., will be celebrated at noon Monday, July 16, 2012, at Saint Mark Catholic Church, Niles, by the Rev. Thomas King, C.S.C. of the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Niles. Donations in memory of Joseph E. Antus may be made to the West Woods of Niles Activities Fund.

The Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, is assisting with arrangements.
