Michigan Good Sam RV organization hosted a “Samboree” rally at the Cass County Fairgrounds May 17-20, with 175 recreational vehicles converging for four days of fun.

Approximately $3,400 was spent in the Cassopolis area (within a five-mile radius) with $4,203 grand total, including Dowagiac, Edwardsburg, Niles and Mishawaka and Elkhart, Ind.

Included during those days were vendors, of which six were from the local area and 10 that follow RV Samborees; and seminars (one by Dona Billey Weiler from the Cass County Council on Aging.

Entertainment on Thursday was the Reveliers, a barbershop quartet from around the local area. Friday was Al Mott from Cass County, and Saturday was Steve Jeffries from Indianapolis, who follows the RV circuit.

On the grounds there were arts and crafts for two days, a hot dog roast sponsored by the Michigan staff and an ice cream social on Saturday sponsored by Dennis Wimberley.
Goodie bags were given to each RV unit and door prizes were given out Thursday through Saturday, which were donated by many local businesses and by Good Sam Chapters.
There are 40 chapters in Michigan. Of those in attendance, organizers did not hear any negative comments about the fairgrounds or surrounding area.

All commented on how well the grounds and buildings are maintained and are looking forward to coming back in May 2013.

Yes, they will be back next year and hopefully with many more RVs.
