Alberta (Misner) Mihills, 95, of Niles, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Cass County Medical Care Facility, following an illness.

She was born Oct 7, 1916, in Kalkaska, Mich., to the late Will and Myrtle (Smith) Misner.

On Feb. 29, 1936, Alberta married Fred Mihills in South Bend.

A homemaker most of her life, Alberta also worked for more than 30 years at Simplicity Pattern as a pattern folder. Alberta and her husband, Fred, shared many adventures together. They traveled to several different countries while he worked at Tyler Refrigeration and while he was a pilot, Alberta was the wind beneath his wings. The couple also enjoyed taking their motor home across the United States. She loved to garden, work outdoors, knit, was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed her animals. Alberta always cherished her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alberta is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; a son Monte Lee Mihills; two brothers, Willard and Leonard Misner; and two sisters, Almeada Wolkins and Eva Hall.

She is survived by her two sons, Gary (Sandy) Mihills and Larry (Judy) Mihills, of Niles; three grandchildren, Lisa (Robert) Laskowski, of Edwardsburg, Robin (Andy) TenBrink, of Reno, Nev., and Debra (Tim) Everman, of Niles; two great-grandchildren, Cole Everman, of Niles, and Morgan Laskowski, of Edwardsburg; and a brother, Richard Misner, of Niles.

Funeral services will be today at 11 a.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel in Niles. A time of visitation will begin one hour prior. An interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.

The Mihills family wishes to thank the Cass County Medical Care Facility for their kindness shown to Alberta while in their care.
