Glen Clemens, 84, of Hummingbird Lane, Niles, died Thursday,
June 14, 2012, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac unexpectedly, but of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 3, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Raymond and Angeline (Rich) Clemens and eventually moved to the area in 1964, coming from Arlington, Va.
Glen was a 1945 graduate of Fremont High School and a graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in business. He was a United States Army Veteran and a retired major, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Glen was the founder and owner of Lumber Service Ltd. in Cassopolis, where he was proud of all of his co-workers and held many fond memories of the times they shared. He was a long-time member of Orchard Hills Country Club and past club champion.
On April 10, 1955, in Boston, he married the former Katherine A. Kelleher, who survives.  Also surviving are three sons, Owen J. Clemens, of Portland, Ore., Stephen R. Clemens, of Cassopolis, and Mark G. Clemens, of Buchanan; and two grandchildren, Cole Glen Clemens and Dawson Blaine Clemens. A sister, Beryl K. (Richard) Dix of Hesperia, Mich., survives.
The family received relatives and friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
Interment, committal services and full military honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
