Carol Ivens, 74, of Jones, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, in the Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac.
She was born Dec. 23, 1937, in Dowagiac to Chelsea and Eva (Pompey) Bryant.
She liked going to garage sales and playing cards. She enjoyed spending time and playing with her grandchildren. She and her husband would often just sit in the yard and listen to the birds.
She married Kermit Ivens on June 21, 1957, in Cassopolis. On Thursday, June 21, Kermit and Carol would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Barbara Ann Nichols and Wanda Wares; two brothers, Richard Bryant and Gordon Bryant.
She is survived by her husband, Kermit Ivens, of Jones; three daughters, Victoria (Ronald, Sr.) Christopher, of South Bend, Kelley Ivens, of Cassopolis, and Angela (James) Pompey; three sons, Kermit Duane Ivens, of Lady Lake, Fla., Edward Ivens, of Jones, and Randall (Regina) Ivens of Jones; nine grandchildren, Tilyne (Kevin) Prater, of Cassopolis, Ronnie (Jessica) Christopher, Jr., of Cassopolis, Shane Ivens, of Elkhart, Michael Ivens, of Elkhart, Ricki McNary, of Dowagiac, R.C. Ivens, of Elkhart, Indiana, B. J. Baucom of Kalamazoo, Kirk Baucom of South Bend, Talina Baucom, of Dowagiac, Kaylin Ivens, of Cassopolis, Aaryn Gilliam, of Cassopolis, Aleighah Ivens, of Cassopolis; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Yvonne) Bryant, of Benton Harbor, Paul Bryant, of Covert; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Carol will be missed by family and friends.
Family and friends will gather Friday, June 22, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis. The funeral will be Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerri Porter officiating. Mrs. Ivens will be laid to rest in Poe Cemetery, Jones.
