Carol Ivens, 74, of Jones, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, in The Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac.

She was born Dec. 23, 1937, in Dowagiac to Chelsea and Eva (Pompey) Bryant.

She married Kermit Ivens on June 21, 1957, in Cassopolis.

On Thursday, June 21, Kermit and Carol would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Barbara Ann Nichols and Wanda Wares; and two brothers, Richard Bryant and Gordon Bryant.

She liked going to garage sales and playing cards. She enjoyed spending time and playing with her grandchildren. She and her husband would often just sit in the yard and listen to the birds.

Carol will be missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Kermit Ivens of Jones; three daughters, Victoria (Ronald Sr.) Christopher of South Bend, Ind., Kelley Ivens of Cassopolis and Angela (James) Pompey; three sons, Kermit Duane Ivens of Lady Lake, Fla., Edward Ivens of Jones and Randall (Regina) Ivens of Jones; 12 grandchildren, Tilyne (Kevin) Prater of Cassopolis, Ronnie (Jessica) Christopher Jr., of Cassopolis, Shane Ivens of Elkhart, Ind., Michael Ivens of Elkhart, Ricki McNary of Dowagiac, R.C. Ivens of Elkhart, B. J. Baucom of Kalamazoo, Kirk Baucom of South Bend, Talina Baucom of Dowagiac, Kaylin Ivens of Cassopolis, Aaryn Gilliam of Cassopolis, Aleighah Ivens of Cassopolis; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Yvonne) Bryant of Benton Harbor, Paul Bryant of Covert and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, June 22, from 4 until 8 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway St., Cassopolis.

The funeral will be Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerri Porter officiating.

Mrs. Ivens will be laid to rest in Poe Cemetery, Jones.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
