Medical emergency results in crash

CASSOPOLIS — A single-vehicle, personal-injury traffic crash on Hospital Street in Jefferson Township June 15 sent a South Bend man to Lakeland Hospital in Niles.
Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood reports that at approximately 4:50 p.m., deputies responded to the crash near North Street.
Daniel Horvath, 51, of South Bend, was eastbound on Hospital when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
It was determined Horvath suffered from a medical emergency prior to the crash.
He was transported to Lakeland for treatment of minor crash-related injuries and the medical emergency.
Seatbelts were used. Alcohol was not a factor.
Assisting at the scene were LifeCare Ambulance Service and Cassopolis Fire Department.
