Two arrested on drug, gun charges

CASSOPOLIS — Cass County Drug Enforcement Team announces the arrests on Tuesday of two subjects after an investigation into methamphetamine and marijuana production on O’Keefe Road and Engle Street in LaGrange Township.

A search warrant was executed by detectives at two locations.

A female subject, identified at Angelique Lane 44, was located inside a residence along with methamphetamine, marijuana, firearms parts and several cans of ammunition.

Detectives found components to manufacture methamphetamine, used and discarded meth lab materials, methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a loaded rifle and marijuana growing at another nearby barn.

An adult male, identified as Kevin Abiney 49, was located and detained after a foot chase.

Lane was arraigned Wednesday in Fourth District Court for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and maintaining a drug house.

Abiney was arraigned for manufacturing methamphetamine, production of hazardous waste, delivery of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearms, manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana and maintaining a drug house.

Lane is held on $40,000 cash or surety bond. Abiney is held on $80,000 cash or surety bond. Both are lodged at the Cass County Jail.
