Ellen Ruth Holmes passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, at Riveridge Manor in Niles.

Ellen’s life began on May 22, 1914, in Grand Haven, the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Paxon) Holmes.

She was retired from Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac after many years of faithful service in the cafeteria. Ellen was a member of the Pleasant View Church of Christ in Cassopolis. She enjoyed reading and her television programs. Ellen’s loving family includes her sister, Althea Holmes, of Dowagiac, and her brother, Roger Holmes, of Montana. Her parents and a sister, Lena Bell Wilcox, precede her in death.

Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday, June 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel where her funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Pleasant View Church of Christ. Please sign her guestbook and leave a memory of Ellen at www.yazel-clark.com.
