Cassopolis resident Hayley Moore, 17, has a leg up on many other people nearly twice her age.
She manages her own business. In March 2011, Moore decided to take what she loves and turn it into something financially productive. As the owner and namesake of Hayley J. Moore Photography, she snaps photos of just about anything that strikes her interest. For instance, she attended Dowagiac Union High School’s graduation to snap photos of friends and their families celebrating. Since her own graduation from Ross Beatty Junior/Senior High School, Moore hopes to take her local business to a big city someday.
“I’ll be attending Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne in the fall, but I want to eventually go to Columbia College in Chicago,” Moore said.
With the support of her family and friends, Moore has been able to photograph several different subjects. After her father purchased a Canon SX 30 IS, Moore has captured everything from friends, events, personal photos and landscape to fashion and modeling.
“I like being able to have my own creativity and uniqueness when I shoot,” Moore said. “It helps that clients, friends and family also support me.”
After receiving her degree, Moore plans to own her own studio and continue her business. While she said she would still come back to Cassopolis, she hopes to lay down her studio roots in a big city somewhere.
“I’d like to work with fashion photography or models,” Moore said.
Moore manages her own business page on Facebook, which details 39 photo albums of her work. With more than 380 “likes,” she hopes to grow her client base and continue shooting area subjects.
“I love capturing the beauty of something with a photograph,” Moore said.
