Rosemary R. Granning, 88, of Silverbrook Avenue, Niles, died Sunday, May 25, 2012, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, following an illness.

She was born May 7, 1924, in South Bend to William Grover and Dorothy Amelia (Meyer) Stark. On Nov. 13, 1948, in Mishawaka, she married Charles Richard Granning, who preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2004.

Rosemary retired from Niles Community Schools in 1989 after 23 years of service.

Surviving family includes sons, Patrick James Granning, of Niles, and Daniel Richard Granning, of Stuart, Fla.; brother,William James Stark, of Glendale, Ariz.; sister, Elizabeth Ann Kelsch, of Dana Point, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

The memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Rosemary Granning will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Niles, by the Rev. Thomas King, C.S.C., of the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Niles.

Contributions in memory of Rosemary R. Granning may be made to the cancer research charity of the donor’s choice.
