Noble qualifies for Michigan Amateur

Niles’ Chris Noble and Battle Creek’s Kory Roberts shared medalist honors at the recently held Michigan Amateur Tournament qualifier held at the Battle Creek Country Club.

Both shot a 1-over-par 73 to qualify for the event to be held at Oakland Hills Country Club June 18-22. The tournament consists of 36 holes of stroke play where the top 64 advance to play six rounds of match play.

Noble’s round was topped off with a hole-in-one at the 143-yard eighth hole where he used a nine iron.

The former Viking standout recently competed with Holy Cross College at the NAIA National Golf Championships in Salem, Ore. at the Creekside Golf Club.

Holy Cross finished 14th as a team in its first-ever trip to the national tournament.
