NEW BUFFALO — Visiting Brandywine tuned up for Saturday’s Division 3 District Baseball Tournament with a 5-4 win over New Buffalo Wednesday.

The Bobcats (17-13-1) scored all five runs in the fifth inning.

The Bison (20-10) led 2-0 heading into the fifth inning.

Kyle Duncan picked up the win and Mike Schoenleber the save.

Austin Searles and Buck Bourdon both doubled for Brandywine.

“It was a nice comeback with my bench players,” Brandywine coach David Sidenbender said. “Most everyone got in some good work and we executed for the most part. Three pitchers saw some time on the mound as we made pitches, threw strikes and only walked one.

“Now we can focus on districts. I really feel it’s anyone’s district. Each team has the components to win it. So it comes down to who commits the least amount of mistakes and who takes advantage of those mistakes. It ought to be a fun day.”
