CASSOPOLIS — A 17-year-old Dowagiac man who has impregnated two people within the last several months, including a 15-year-old girl, will be spending time in Cass County jail for his criminal sexual behavior.

Aaron Keene was sentenced to 240 days in jail and five years probation by Cass County Circuit Court Judge Michael Dodge Friday. He received credit for 64 days served.

Keene pleaded guilty in April to having consensual sex with and, as a result, impregnating a 15-year-old girl in January. Because the girl was a minor, Keene was charged with contributing to delinquency and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration.

“I can only imagine what impact that has had on her life and what kind of a life this child is going to have … that you will not be a father to I’m sure because you’ve moved on,” Dodge said.

“Even if you are willing to provide support, you are 17, a high school dropout … and you have zero employment history.”

Dodge said Keene has a 21-year-old fiancee who is pregnant with Keene’s child and due to give birth in September.

“I am apprehensive about what kind of future that relationship has starting out like this,” Dodge said.

Keene also has a prior juvenile conviction for attempted criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.

Keene was sentenced to 90 days for contributing to delinquency and 240 days in jail and five years probation for assault with intent to commit sexual penetration.
