Two arrested in robbery of pizza delivery driver

Two more arrests in Chicago in connection with the April 4 armed robbery of a Pizza Hut delivery driver bring the total to four, Dowagiac Public Safety Director Tom Atkinson said Tuesday.

Dowagiac police secured arrest warrants from the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office for Martrell Jones, 18, and Dylin Ackah-Essien, 17, who were arrested in Chicago.

Detectives previously arrested Anteyon Russell and Michael Smith for the robbery at the corner at Thickstun and Budlow streets.

After extradition, both subjects were brought to the Cass County Jail in Cassopolis and lodged on the outstanding warrants on May 21.

Ackah-Essien and Jones were arraigned in Fourth District Court on charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery unlawful imprisonment, larceny from a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle, larceny in a building, seven counts of felony firearms and receiving and concealing stolen property.

Both subjects were being held in the Cass County Jail on $100,000 cash or surety bond.
