Niles’ Schrader earns all-conference

CENTREVILLE — John Schrader of Niles earned Big 16 All-Conference golf honors at Island Hills Monday.

Schrader tied for second overall following the two-event league golf tournament.

Matt Zerbel of St. Joseph took overall medalist honors with a total of 147. Schrader finished two shots back, along with Matt Garland of Battle Creek Lakeview and Bryan VandenBerg of Gull Lake.

That trio shot 147.

Monday, Lakeview won the second of two conference tournaments with a score of 303. Gull Lake finished second with a 312 and Portage Central third with a 314. Niles was eighth with a 331.

Lakeview won the overall conference championship with a 610. Marshall finished second with a 619 and Portage Central third with a 623. Niles finished 12th with a total score of 683.
