2 arrested for selling drugs by Edwardsburg schools

Two adults were arrested May 15 for illegally selling and growing marijuana near Edwardsburg schools.

Cass County Drug Enforcement Team announces that a search warrant was executed in the 69000 block of Section Street and resulted in the arrest of Travis Hipps, 28, and Takeysha Davis, 23. CCDET detectives were conducting an ongoing investigation into marijuana dealing and obtained arrest warrants.

A search warrant was secured and executed at the residence of Hipps and Davis. Police report locating both subjects inside the residence. A search of the residence revealed marijuana illegally growing and packaged for street-level sale.

Two minor children were living inside the residence. CCDET contacted Child Protective Services division of the Department of Human Services and a CPS agent came to the scene. The two children were taken into protective custody.

Hipps and Davis were arrested at the scene on their respective warrants as well as additional drug charges stemming from the

search warrant. Both subjects were lodged at the Cass County Jail in Cassopolis.

Hipps and Davis were arraigned May 16 in Fourth District Court of Cass County.

Hipps was charged with delivery of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a drug house and possession of marijuana. Hipps is held on a $40,000 cash or surety bond.

Davis was arraigned on charges of manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, maintaining a drug house and possession of marijuana. Davis is held on a $20,000 cash of surety bond.

CCDET was assisted at the scene by the Ontwa Township Police Department.
