Gary Lee Gardner, 62, of Edwardsburg, passed away Oct. 15, 2011, at his home from natural causes.
He was born Oct. 23, 1949, in Elkhart to Ottis and Lamoine (Mechling) Gardner, who preceded him in death.
Gary worked as a cement finisher and was a member of Local 692, Cement Masons and Plasterers. He was considered the best in his trade and was a perfectionist at his work. He was also an Eagle Scout.
Gary traveled to many countries with his parents. One of the things the family enjoyed each year was the walk on the Mackinaw Bridge Memorial Day weekend. He was a graduate of Edwardsburg High School Class of 1967.
Gary is survived by many cousins.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg. Officiating will be Pastor Brent Danielson of LaGrange Mission Church, Sturgis, Mich.
A time of visitation to share memories of Gary will be one hour before services. Burial will follow at Kessington Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. May 24, when the U.S. Army Guard will fold the flag and play taps.
