Paul Nicholas Seibel, 77, of Niles, passed to his rest on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, while a patient at Arlington House in St. Joseph.
Paul was born Dec. 20, 1934, in Decatur, the son of Nicholas George and Marie (Lohroff) Seibel. Paul grew up in Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School. He entered into the United States Army in 1954 and served until 1956. He completed his time in the reserves until 1962.
Paul moved to the Edwardsburg area in 1969 from Portage and he had worked at Krizman of Elkhart. He then retired from CTS as a foreman in Elkhart.
He had a great interest in building furniture and wood products for his pleasure. This was done in the “shop” in his home, mostly after retirement.
Paul was married Aug. 30, 1958, in Decatur to Donna Lee Swets, who survives with three children, Michelle (Robert) Ziemer of Hartford; Janine (David) Duncan of Granger, Ind.; and Bradley Seibel of Nashville, Tenn. There are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also, a brother, Norman G. Seibel, of Kalamazoo survives.
Family who have passed are his parents and a brother, Edward Seibel.
Family and friends gathered Monday, May 7, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St., Edwardsburg.
The service of remembrance was at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by the family and directed by Bradley Seibel, son.
Burial followed in Adamsville Cemetery with the U.S. Army Honor Guard playing taps and folding the flag.
