Richard Leigh Gorham, 84, of Cassopolis, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at his residence with his family by his side.
Richard was born June 22, 1927, in Cassopolis to the late Mark and Eileen (Halladay) Gorham.

After graduating from Cassopolis High School, he joined the United States Navy in 1945. Richard retired from Midwest Energy as a purchasing agent.
On July 18, 1954, Richard married the love of his life, Carolyn (Poe) Gorham, at a ceremony in Jones.
He enjoyed walking, reading Western books, traveling, Michigan football, Detroit Tigers baseball and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roger and Donald Gorham; and a sister, Ann Sattelmaier.
Richard is survived by his wife; two daughters, Susan (Wendell) Simmons and Cindy (Scott) Peters, both of Cassopolis; four grandchildren, Monica (John) Kennedy of Cassopolis, Greg Peters of Cassopolis, Seth Simmons of Denver, Colo., and Kara (Dan) Lewis of Mishawaka; great-granddaughter, Isabel Kennedy; brother, Larry (Donna) Gorham; and sister, Marcelene Gorham, both of Cassopolis.
A memorial service was held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cassopolis Monday, April 30, at 3 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to the Cass District Library, 319 M-62 Cassopolis, MI 49031, or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
