Garner named Player of the WeekPublished 1:51pm Tuesday, May 1, 2012
PARK RIDGE, Ill. — Former Niles standout David Garner has earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors.
The Michigan State hurler tossed a complete game shutout against No. 13-ranked Purdue Sunday.
It was Garner’s first career complete game shutout. He struck out seven, allowed just five hits and did not walk a batter.
The Boilermakers entered the weekend with the third best batting average in the country and it was the first time this season that Purdue had been shut out.
