THREE RIVERS — Visiting Dowagiac suffered its first loss of the season against Three Rivers Wednesday night.
The Wildcats scored two goals in each half and handed the Chieftains a 4-1 setback in Wolverine Conference soccer action.
Dowagiac senior Breanna Williams scored her school-record 18th goal of the season 12 minutes into the match to stake the Chieftains to the 1-0 advantage.
It was all Three Rivers from there.
“We started off keeping good pressure on them and finished our first counter attack,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “Then we began to sit back and let them run us and put us on our heels for the remainder of the half. At halftime we adjusted well and shut off their through passes, but it was too late. Our leading two scorers (Williams and Primley) were out for much of the second half and limited our offensive attacks. The game showed the girls tonight what it is going to take to win a district championship. We have to beat this team.”
