Brandywine takes tourney title

The Brandywine softball team had no trouble winning its own round robin tournament Saturday.

The Bobcats allowed just four hits on the day in sweeping New Buffalo and Benton Harbor.

Brande Overholt tossed a four-hitter with six strikeouts as Brandywine defeated New Buffalo 11-3.

Mikayla Kemp and Jenna Smith combined on a five-inning no-hitter as the Bobcats blanked Benton Harbor 13-0.

Kelly Harper had a home run, two doubles and three RBIs for Brandywine in the opening game. Paige Jeffrey added a pair of doubles and a single.

In the second game, Kemp helped her own cause by going 3-for-3 with a home run, double and a single. Overholt had two doubles and Madison Pellow a triple.
