Matt Shaver’s phone has been ringing off the hook for weeks.
And Shaver, owner of downtown Niles record shop Rumor Has It, says it’s all in anticipation of National Record Store Day Saturday.
“It has really exploded this year,” Shaver said, regarding the one-day event in its fifth year.
Hundreds of artists and bands will release limited edition vinyl records exclusively at record shops across the country that day.
While Rumor Has It will not be among the shops selling the exclusive LPs — most of the most popular releases are going to big city stores — it will have sales on its current large selection of vinyl and turntables.
Shaver said he expects a good crowd Saturday.
“Based on last year, there is a thousand times the interest in it,” Shaver said. “Our Facebook page has been inundated with messages.”
Shaver said Rumor Has It participated in Record Store Day’s Black Friday event last year with good success.
“This thing will continue to grow,” he said.
