CASSOPOLIS — At the end of 2011, Facebook had more than 845 million monthly active users across the world. The social media giant was founded in 2004 and has changed the way people stay connected with family and friends, discover what’s going on in the world and share and express matters of personal interest and opinion.
If you have not made the plunge into social media and are curious about the Facebook phenomenon, Midwest Energy Cooperative and Southwestern Michigan College invite you to “Get Social With Facebook” at a community forum from 6 to 8 p.m. May 15 at SMC’s Mathews Conference Center West. The forum is free and open to the public. Pizza and soft drinks will be provided.
The program will include a general overview of social media and Facebook and a panel of local people representing various age groups who will discuss how they use this medium. Following a question-and-answer session, SMC students will be available to help interested participants set up Facebook accounts.
