4-H members stepped up to the first “4-H is on Fire to Read” challenge put on by the Cass County 4-H Youth Development program and came through with amazing results.  In celebration of March is Reading month, 26 youth members ranging in age from 5 to 17 years old read a combined 39,296 pages-completing over 388 books.
Members from local clubs Country Trailblazers, Sleepy Hollow, Jones Rough Riders, Rocky River Riders, 4-Kids, Penn, Neighborhood Gang, North Red Hill, Legacy, Kids ‘n’ Kids and M-40 Hustlers participated in the event.  Books ranged from easy readers, young adult, non-fiction, fiction, fantasy and children’s storybooks.
Midwest Energy stepped forward to donate cash prizes for the top two reading clubs, including a donation to the local library of clubs’ choosing.
