COLOMA — Visiting Brandywine suffered a controversial split against Coloma in Lakeland Conference baseball Tuesday.

The Bobcats won the first game 4-0 behind the four-hit pitching of Alex Erwin.

In the nightcap, a collision at the plate resulted in an apparent ejection of the Coloma pitcher.

However, that pitcher continued to take the mound for the Comets, who went on to win 9-7.

“I’m not sure what happened there,” Brandywine coach David Sidenbender said. “Their pitcher knocked over our catcher at the plate without sliding. The umpires said he was ejects, but he continued to pitch. I just wanted to get the game in and have a chance to win so I guess I will find out more tomorrow.”

Erwin helped his own cause in the first game with a home run.

In the second game, Erwin took the loss in relief of starter Kyle Duncan.

Buck Bourdon and Brad Millin both doubled for the Bobcats, who are now 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the Lakeland Conference.
