Political action group attempts to oust Snyder

A political action group is once again trying to oust Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder.

Michigan Rising filed recall language March 26 in Washtenaw County.

The clarity hearing to determine if the group can go ahead with a recall petition will take place Monday.

If the language is approved and the recall drive is successful, the question of whether to recall the governor will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Michigan Rising is hoping to build on the almost 500,000 signatures gathered for last year’s effort to recall the governor.

“Gov. Snyder is bad for Michigan,” said Jan BenDor, election specialist for Michigan Rising.

“Gov. Snyder has abused the children of Michigan. He cut thousands of children off food aid. He robbed $400 million from the School Aid Fund and then slashed school payments.”

A kickoff rally for the recall effort is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. May 5 at the Capitol Building in Lansing.

Many state officials have faced recall efforts recently, including Sen. John Proos, R-St. Joseph and Rep. Al Pscholka, R-Stevensville.
