Niles will have to get its toasty sandwiches somewhere else.

The Quiznos restaurant located in the Shell Gasoline Station at 434 S. 11th St. closed its doors for good Sunday.

Cindy List, area manager for Walters-Dimmick Petroleum, which owns the Shell Station and the Quiznos, blamed soft sales for the closing. She said sales started slowing about a year ago.

“We tried to market it, put out coupons, but we couldn’t get people to come down to this end of town,” List said.

Walters-Dimmick Petroleum, based out of Marshall, bought the Quiznos about two years ago, according to List.

She said they are looking for someone to lease the space, possibly another food provider.

A sign on the door from “management” reads: “Due to our low volume sales, we are closed. We thank you for your business and the many years of service. We invite you to visit our New Buffalo location. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
