Democratic caucus May 5

Republican primaries are under way throughout the United States to choose a presidential candidate to oppose Barack Obama in November.
Although the Democratic ballot was made available for those who attended the Feb. 28 Cass County road tax referendum and Republican primary and who wished to express their preference for a Democratic candidate, that ballot was neither authorized nor approved by the Michigan Democratic Party.
According to David Taylor, vice chairman of the Cass County Democratic Party, Michigan Democrats have for some time gathered in caucus to select their choice or choices for presidential candidates. This year is no different. Accordingly, on Saturday, May 5, Cass County Democrats are invited to the Cass County Democratic Headquarters at 804 E. State St. in Cassopolis, where the 2012 Democratic caucus for Cass County will be held.
All Democrats are welcome to participate beginning at 10 a.m. and extending until noon, when a caucus vote will be taken. The only identification required for a Democrat to participate in the Cass County Democratic Caucus on May 5 will be evidence that the individual is a resident of Cass County.
