Register to vote this month at SMC campus

Every Tuesday and Wednesday in April, the League of Women Voters of Berrien and Cass Counties will be on the Southwestern Michigan College campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Activities Center to register students,  professors and staff to vote.

In 2012, Americans younger than 30 will represent nearly one quarter of the eligible voters. Exit polling has shown young people participate in significantly larger numbers when they are directly contacted by an organization or have the opportunity to interact with candidates for office.

Be ready to vote Aug. 7 and Nov. 6. There also are several local elections concerning school boards and other issues scheduled in Cass County on May 8. Citizens who are not registered at their current address 30 days before those dates will not be able to vote.
