LWV registering voters at SMC

Every Tuesday and Wednesday in April, the League of Women Voters of Berrien and Cass Counties will be on the Southwestern Michigan campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Activities Center to register students — and professors and staff — to vote.
Young people are an increasingly influential part of the electorate. In 2012, Americans younger than 30  represent nearly one quarter of the eligible voters. Exit polling has shown young people participate in significantly larger numbers when they are directly contacted by an organization or have the opportunity to interact with candidates for office.
Register to vote in elections held Aug. 7 and Nov. 6.  There also are several local elections concerning school boards and other issues in Cass County on May 8.  Citizens not registered at their current address 30 days before those dates will not be able to vote.
