The Edwardsburg Area Chamber of Commerce in April will be undertaking a membership drive led by Martha Ireland, Edwardsburg branch manager for Greater Niles Community Federal Credit Union.
The Chamber has about 50 members.
“I’d like to have 80,” President Dawn Bolock said this week.
Bolock, a Realtor, said the Chamber has a number of irons in the fire, including a new website “ready to go live any time now” with the help of tech-savvy Edwardsburg High School students.
Members do not have to operate businesses, thanks to family memberships that are available.
Regular meetings take place the first Wednesday each month with lunch catered by a Union member and a speaker at Ontwa Township Hall.
There is an annual meeting in March, which featured a program on the Pure Michigan advertising campaign, and a couple of evening meetings a year — usually in July and February.
Coming up from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27 is the third annual Business Expo at Hope United Methodist Church.
Bolock said the main advantages of Chamber membership are networking, including a webpage linking your business, and supporting the local economy, with Granger, Mishawaka and Elkhart, Ind., so close across the state line.
