Former presidential candidate and former pizza mogul Herman Cain will be in southwest Michigan April 5.

He will be campaigning for Jack Hoogendyk, who is running against Fred Upton for the 6th District congressional seat, at the Orchard’s Mall Community Room, 1800 Pipestone Rd., Benton Harbor at 5 p.m.

Cain will then make a campaign stop in Kalamazoo at 7:15 p.m. The rally will be held at the Holiday Inn West, 2747 S. 11th St.

There is a suggested $9.99 donation for those who want to participate, but it isn’t required to attend.

The purpose of the rallies is to promote Cain’s 9-9-9 tax plan, which Hoogendyk has recently endorsed.

Cain recently endorsed Hoogendyk.

“Just the fact that Mr. Hoogendyk spent six years in public office and never voted for a tax increase shows he’s unafraid to stand up to the ‘Goliath’ of big government,” Cain said. “I proudly welcome Mr. Hoogendyk to this war we have waged to get power back where it belongs – into the hands of ‘We the People.’”
