Cass soccer team opens with shutout

Jessica Waldschmidt scored four goals as the Cassopolis girls soccer team opened its season with an 8-0 win over visiting New Buffalo Friday night.

Waldschmidt scored two goals in each half as the Rangers (1-0) opened up a 5-0 halftime advantage.

Also scoring goals in the opening half were Meagan Ruff (2) and Marissa Waldschmidt.

In the second half Jessica Waldschmidt scored twice more and Sierra Westphal added a goal as Cassopolis completed the shutout.

Jocelyn Transou, Jessica Waldschmidt and Madeline Ruff combined for the shutout in goal as the Rangers outshot the Bison 8-1.
