Former South Bend Washington coach Antwon Jones will be introduced as the new Niles football coach this evening to the team.

Neither Jones nor Niles Athletic Director Jeff Upton would confirm the news, which will become official later today.

Jones won 33 games in four years at Washington. The Panthers were winless the season before he arrived and had won just 15 games in the previous six seasons.

This past season, Jones led Washington to a 6-3 regular season record. The Panthers reached the state finals for the first time since 1973.

Washington will replace Dan Brawley, who resigned earlier this year to take over the vacant golf position at Niles High School.

The Vikings have not had a winning season since 2003 and have been 4-5 each of the last five seasons.
