The Cass County Parks and Recreation Commission and The Friends of the Cass County Parks will celebrate “A Night of Five Thousand Eggs” at Dr. T.K. Lawless Park from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 30.
As the community continues its tremendous support of this event, it will again be increasing the number of eggs to be found. Not 4,000, but 5,000 eggs will be hidden through the fields of Lawless Park. To ensure everyone has the best opportunity to find eggs, the Easter egg hunt will be divided into three groups:
• Ages 2-4 will be held at 7 p.m. in the Open Games Field
• Ages 5-7 will be held under the stars at 8:30 p.m. west of the tubing hill
• Ages 8-10 will also be held under the stars at 8:30 p.m. the Open Games Field
As participants found out last year as the rain transitioned into snow, the weather can be unpredictable, so dress appropriately. There will be a fireplace going with hot food and beverages.
This year’s event lineup will again feature (weather permitting) the opportunity to star gaze through a large telescope provided by St. Peters Lodge 106, Free and Accepted Mason’s Bob Parrish, a local amateur astronomer.
Parrish, a longtime parks and recreation supporter, has always had an interest in stargazing and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. As in years past, Parrish will be accepting can food items in support of local food pantries. Additional activities include face painting, crafts, petting zoo, hayrides and a live owl display provided by Aimee Pico of the Lake Milton Raptor Education Center.
The Easter Bunny will be on hand for photo opportunities. Bring cameras and video equipment.
Cost is $2. Dr. T.K. Lawless Park is located at 15122 Monkey Run St., Vandalia.
