Edwardsburg falls to Lakeshore in semis

ST. JOSEPH — Loren Johnson’s game-high 18 points helped lift No. 7 Lakeshore to a 55-38 win over Edwardsburg in the Class B boys basketball district semifinals Wednesday (March 7) night.

The Eddies (13-9) got off to a good start against the Lancers, who went on to win the district championship. Edwardsburg led 9-6 after the opening eight minutes, but it was all Lakeshore from there.

The Lancers (19-2) outscored the Eddies 21-8 in the second quarter to take a 27-17 advantage into the locker room at halftime. While Edwardsburg was able to keep the game close in the third quarter, it still trailed 37-31 heading to the final period.

The Lancers poured in 18 points, while holding the Eddies to just seven.

Besides Johnson, Lakeshore got seven points each from Michael Welch and Alex Klunder.

Patrick Harvey led the Eddies with 10 points as the Lancers held Edwardsburg leading scorer Josh Kozinski to just six points. Kyle Slack finished with nine points.
