Nate Michael ‘Mr. Nice Guy’

Photo by Kristi Weston of K. West Photography/Nathan Dallen Michael, 17, of Dowagiac, was crowned Mr. Nice Guy at Sunday's Mr. Blossomtime competition. He is the first Dowagiac resident to ever hold a title in Mr. Blossomtime. A junior at Union High School, he is the son of Jason Michael and Jessica Ruff and has a sister, Zoe Michael. Nathan works at Wood Fire. Mr. Blossomtime Agape Mpanira of Buchanan's court also includes First Runner-up Jordan Moore of Niles and Second Runner-up Stuart Coulston of Niles from 32 contestants.

BENTON HARBOR — Agape Mpamira of Buchanan took home the shiny gold crown and title Mr. Blossomtime 2012, along with $500 in scholarship money at the Mr. Blossomtime pageant Sunday night at Lake Michigan College Mendel Center.
Both young men representing Niles made the 2012 court and brought home $500 in scholarship money.
This year’s pageant theme was Blossomtime Goes Wild for Animals.
The 32 contestants had to compete in swimwear, after 5 formal wear and public speaking, telling why they chose an animal as their favorite.
Agape plans to attend medical school after college and become a doctor.
He and his four-man court will represent southwest Michigan over the next year.
Jordan Moore of Niles was first runner-up. Jordan plans to attend Columbia College in the fall to pursue performing arts.
Crowned second runner-up was Stuart Coulston, also of Niles. Stuart’s future ambition is to go to law school and study corporate law.
Mr. Nice Guy was awarded to Nathan Michael, who represented Dowagiac through the Heart of Blossomtime pageant.
Nathan’s future ambition is to move to Colorado and open a snowboard shop.
Mr. Nice Guy is chosen by the voting of his fellow contestants. The title comes with scholarships totaling $350.
Miss Edwardsburg Meghan Monaghan received a communication award for portrayal of Safari Hunter with his Map Quest of Edwardsburg inspired from the movie Jumanji.
Miss Coloma and Miss New Buffalo also received communication awards on Sunday Night.
