Eddies rout Brandywine

NILES —Visiting Edwardsburg opened up a 20-point halftime lead and cruised home with a 68-46 Lakeland Conference boys basketball victory Friday night.

The Eddies led 20-11 after the opening quarter and then outscored the Bobcats 19-8 in the second quarter to break the game open.

Both teams scored 17 points in the third quarter leaving the Bobcats (8-9, 2-8 Lakeland) still trailing by 20 points, 56-36.

The Eddies sealed the victory at the free throw line in the second half. Edwardsburg (11-7, 7-3 Lakeland) was 10-of-14 from the charity strip in the final 16 minutes of the contest and 17-of-27 overall.

The Eddies’ Josh Kozinski, who finished with a game-high 22 points, was 12-of-14 from the free throw line.

Kyle Slack added 11 points for Edwardsburg.

Alex Erwin had an outstanding game for the Bobcats as he finished with 18 points, including an 8-for-8 performance from the line.

Brandywine’s Pierce Gleason finished with nine.
