PATH (Personal Action Towards Health) is a six-week program that teaches practical skills for living a healthy life with a chronic health condition like diabetes, arthritis, asthma, chronic pain or heart disease. The workshop focuses on self-care, learning new coping strategies and sharing personal experiences with other group members.
PATH is a Chronic Disease Self-Management Program that was developed and tested by Stanford University. It is designed to be part of an individual’s current medical treatment. Research has shown people who have attended this six-session workshop feel better, are less limited by their illness and spend less time at the doctor or in the hospital.
Classes are scheduled to meet at the Cass County Council on Aging, 60525 Decatur Rd. in Cassopolis, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays March 7 through April 11.
Cost for the six-week workshop is free, but it is valued at $120 per person. Family members, friends or caregivers are also encouraged to attend.
Class sizes are limited and pre-registration is required. Call Sandi at (269) 445-8110 or (800) 323-0390 at the Cass County Council on Aging for more information and to register.  PATH is sponsored by the Region VI Area Agency on Aging.
