COLOMA — The last hurdle has been cleared for Friday night’s Lakeland Conference showdown between host Brandywine and Edwardsburg.

The Bobcats ran their league winning streak to 39 games with a 38-28 win over host Coloma Monday night in a make-up contest.

The win kept Brandywine undefeated (10-0) in the conference. The Eddies are 8-1.

Monday night, the fourth-ranked Bobcats (17-1) did not play their best basketball, but were good enough to keep them in line for another conference title.

Both teams struggled offensively in the contest. Brandywine and Coloma combined for a mere seven points in the opening quarter with the Bobcats taking a 4-3 lead.

Things didn’t get much better over the final three quarters, but Brandywine was able to open up a 17-11 halftime advantage, which it stretched to 25-17 after three quarters.

Madison Pellow led the Bobcats and all scorers with 16 points. Carlie Newman added 13.

Jenna Faultersack tied for game-high honors with 16 points for the Comets.
