Dowagiac’s Rodgers among top scorers

Dowagiac point guard Correshia Rodgers continues to be among the area’s top scorers despite the fact that the Chieftains are just 1-11 on the season.

Brandywine’s Carlie Newman is the top scorer in southwest lower Michigan with an average of 19.9 points per game.

Benton Harbor’s Gondrezick and Niles’ Maureen Craig are second and third heading into the week with averages of 17.9 and 13.8 respectively.

Edwardsburg’s Sarah D’Amico is fourth (13.6) and the Chieftains’ Rodgers fifth (13.5).

The Chieftains are back in action tonight as the girls basketball team heads to Buchanan for a non-conference contest set to begin at 7:15 p.m.

The Chieftain boys team will collide with one of the area’s top teams as the 9-2 Bucks invade the Union High School gym to face the 10-2 Chieftains.

The non-conference clash is scheduled to tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
