Dowagiac Department of Public Safety Director Thomas A. Atkinson announces that the Dowagiac Police Department and Southwestern Michigan College are once again teaming up to present the basic physical defense pogram for women known as RAD to the Dowagiac community.
A Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Class will be presented Saturday, Feb. 18, and Sunday, Feb. 19, from 8 a.m. to noon each day at the SMC Student Athletic Complex (SAC).
RAD is the largest women’s self-defense training organization in the world.
The class encompasses realistic development of self-defense options for women.
This includes before and during situations of imminent or actual abductive assault.
The program allows women to develop confidence with each lesson to tap their inner power and strength by facing their fear.
The eight-hour training program is free and open to the general public, but class size is limited to 15.
Pre-registration is required and can be completed by calling the Dowagiac Police Department at (269) 782-9743, ext. 301.
