Mary’s life began on May 16, 1932, in Dowagiac, the daughter of Wallace and Phoebe (Biek) Luthringer.

Mary was known as the neighborhood cat lady for her love and devotion to all cats.
She also loved the holidays, mainly Christmas and Easter.
Mary was an active member of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church and started a weekly food drive.
Mary worked for James Heddon’s Sons for many years and Wolverine Mutual Insurance for 21 years. She was a second mom to all who knew her.
Mary was united in marriage to Robert Boughan for 25 years. After his passing, she then married Bill Sorensen.
Her loving family includes: her daughters, Diana Perez Moreno of Lawrence and Karen Louise Boughan of Dowagiac; sister, Margaret (Charles) Geegan of Dowagiac; sister-in-law, Barbara Luthringer of Dowagiac; special niece and nephew, Mary Ann Middleton and John Luthringer; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Jim Luthringer.
Mary passed away at Cass County Medical Facility Monday, Jan. 9, 2012.
Her family will gather with friends on Sunday from 3 to 5 with a prayer service at 4:30 at Yazel and Clark Chapel.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Maternity Catholic Church on Monday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. led by Father Kevin Covert. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
