Tickets are available for the third annual Birdhouse Auction to benefit Harbor Country Public Arts Initiative. More than 50 unique birdhouses have been designed by local artists to be auctioned from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Marina Grand Resort, 600 West Water St. in New Buffalo. Tickets are $25 and include two glasses of wine or two beers, and appetizers.

The mission of the Harbor Country Public Arts Initiative is to unite eight southwest Michigan communities in partnership to plan, produce and exhibit works of art in public spaces including publicly accessible buildings.

John Trusk’s birdhouse, left, is one of many to be auctioned. For more than 40 years, Trusk has held senior creative positions at agencies such as J. Walter Thompson, Dailey & Associates, DDB, Backer, Speilvogel, Bates and more working for the world’s top clients creating some of the most breakthrough and memorable advertising campaigns in the industry.

In 1988, Trusk became a partner in Zwiren, Collins, Karo and Trusk before selling to N.W. Ayer, where he remained as executive creative director for 10 years.
