CASSOPOLIS — Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports deputies handled a two-vehicle crash at 1:49 p.m. Monday on M-51, just north of Downey Street in Silver Creek Township.

The southbound vehicle, driven by David Lear, 60, lost control and crossed the centerline, colliding with a northbound car driven by Michael Shields, 58.

Lear had three passengers: Kevin Milliken, 12; Joseph Lear, 8; and Mercedes Tingue, 8.

All five involved in the crash are residents of the Dowagiac area and were transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.

Dowagiac Police Department, Pride Care Ambulance and Sister Lakes Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
