WYOMING — The Buchanan wrestling team went 5-0 Saturday to capture the Wyoming-Kelloggsville team tournament.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central was second (3-2), Kelloggsville third (3-2), Grant fourth (3-2), Grandville Unity Christian fifth (1-4), Grand Rapids Union sixth (0-5).

Going 5-0 on the day for the Bucks were Colin Wheetley (125), Jeff Mucha (135/140), Patrick Wheetley (152), Alex Brown (160), Gage Hutchison (215) and Jim DeVlaminck (275).

Southwest Classic

ALLEGAN – The Niles wrestling team finished sixth at the Southwest Classic hosted by Allegan Saturday.

Shelby captured the team title with 223 points. The host Tigers were second with 187 and Lowell third with 147.5. The Vikings finished with 133 points. Edwardsburg was seventh with 76 points.

Casey Burandt finished first at 135 pounds for Niles, which also got a third-place finish from Donte Stevens at 152 pounds.

Derek Scott was fourth at 285. Finishing fifth were Nicholas Zimmerman (112), Derek Mills (125), Fritzel Findeisen (160) and Ryan Casey (189).

The Eddies’ Blake King captured the 145-pound championship with a 12-4 win over Ryan Pinnell of Allegan.
