The Niles freshmen boys’ basketball team opened up its season Tuesday night with a 55-35 win over visiting Portage Central.

Ra’Quon Glenn led the Vikings and all scorers with 18 points. Gabriel Stokes added 10 points and Sammy Rodts eight.

Portage Central’s Rodney Turner poured in a game-high 32 points to lead the Mustangs to a 54-40 victory over the Niles JV Tuesday night.

The Vikings got 10 points from Greg Jones and eight points from Gevanta Nichols. Dustin Taggart and Matt Miller each grabbed six rebounds.
