It was the second year for the Lions’ party with Santa

Dowagiac Lions Club prepared ham dinners and purchased presents for nine women and their 21 children from Hope’s Door Ministry Wednesday night at the service organization’s clubhouse on Bluebird Lane.
Passing out presents at the second annual Christmas party was Santa Claus himself.
“It’s really wonderful to have our children experience this. I really appreciate it,” Executive Director Patti Whitcomb said.
Whitcomb was reminded of a reunion because some women are former residents she doesn’t see regularly.
“We hope we can keep on doing this,” Lions President Ron Behnke said.
Linda Yauchstetter brought a table of women from Beta Mu so they could see what the sorority helped support.

Michael Huffman, 7, ripped the wrapping off his bulky gift from Santa to find a skateboard.
